Esme Bergh

Violin / Piano / Accordion

Esmé started her classical music studies at the age of 6 where she learnt the piano and later also the clarinet.   During her teens she developed a love for contemporary piano and organ.  At age 16 she played piano and organ in church as well as the occasional weddings and functions.  At the age of 19 she furthered her music studies and attained her Grade 10 Teacher’s Diploma in piano and organ through the Alec Benjamin School of Contemporary Music, whereafter she taught piano and organ for a number of years.  During 1997 she emigrated to Vancouver, Canada where she did some digital piano recordings and developed a love for modern worship music.   She and her family returned to South Africa during 2004.   She took up formal violin studies in 2013 with personal tutors including self-study through Violin Lab.   During June 2017 she joined the Rand Symphony Orchestra in the violin sections and is still an active member.   She completed Grade 8 ABRSM theory in March 2018 with merit and Grade 8 ABRSM violin in June 2019.  Learning a new instrument has always been a challenge for Esmé and she started Accordion in January 2022 and currently take lessons with Sergio Zampolli.   

Esmé performs under the name Music for the Soul as a Sole Musician at Weddings, Corporate Functions, Private Parties, Art Exhibitions, Restaurants and Retirement Villages.   She also performs with other musicians when Duo, Trio or Quartets are required.  Esmé can be contacted at 083 289 9600 or Email:  berghesme@gmail.com
